Forever Frugal Friday

I have this weird obsession with cute printed thermals.  They remind me of long johns and bundling up and I just love the look.  This Mixed Patterned Thermal is absolutely coming home with me to Seattle this holiday season.  Pure perfection.  And for under $10 you have got to be kidding me!

Desperately Seeking Sully ~ Orange Crush

As I look at the window and am greeted with fog, it has suddenly dawned on me that fall has arrived and with fall comes new scents, flavors and a color palette.  And since we are in the month of October (and I did just return from Amsterdam where the color of the country is orange) I decided I should really try to incorporate the color that I despise so much into my wardrobe.

I think the easiest way to incorporate orange for me would be in accessories.  Accessories allow you the luxury of being bold and bright without being too trendy or over the top.  I am loving all these varieties of orange goodies but am most definitely favoring the iPhone cover, as I am about to make the switch from blackberry to iPhone.  It's a little bit edgy, fun, punk and perfect to set me apart from other iPhone users.

While the easy and safe route would be accessories, I would like to own one orange staple item.  However my fair skin and light hair are not complimented by orange.  So the trick is to find the right orange for you!  For me, I veer towards the coral and the red-orange options.  But if you are gonna go full out orange a scarf or shoes would be another great choice.

This fall I am really going to try face my fear of looking like a pumpkin and try out this orange trend.  With options like the ones above I am pretty sure I can't go wrong!  What are your thoughts on orange?
Gung-ho or steer clear?

Forever Frugal Friday

Who else is excited to break out the white pants now that Memorial Day is upon us?

Okay...so technically white pants seem to be okay to wear year round in here in Cali, but for other states, it is time to dust off your favorite white pants, shorts, skirts, whatever and pair them with great bright tribal tops like this one

The bright colors and fun pattern are sure to set you apart from others and it would also look great for evenings out paired with a bright blazer.

Yahoo for summer time approaching!!!

Forever Frugal Friday

I am a total sucker for comfy cozy gray tees.  This Flounce Ruffle Top reminds me of this other top that I saw some time back (I think from Anthro), that I thought would look so cute for summer paired with white skinny jeans and some flat cute sandals.  Throw in a denim jacket for when the sun goes down and voila, perfect summer outfit!

Designer Crush ~ Wildfox Couture

A while back I was looking through some images and came across these fun ones that I saved and wanted to send to my BFF Mrs. R.

This one especially seemed perfect considering Mrs. R's affection for all things Barbie.

Upon further investigation, I realized that these pictures were actually ads for the popular clothing line Wildfox Couture. I quickly realized that I hearted most of their options but loved their ads the most because they remind me of my friends and I fooling around after a crazy Saturday night. Below are some of of Wildfox's pieces that I would like to add to my closet.

I may not live in BH but I work right down the corner and let me just tell you there are a ton of pretty people there and I am sure that I have Left My Heart in Beverly Hills before (even if only lusting after some Loubie's at Barney's). This off the shoulder sweatshirt is just so fun!

What's not to love about Summer? This Tee clearly addresses all the things there are to love about Summer. Some of my faves according to this Tee...Milkshakes, Sprinklers, Falling In Love,Sandy Toes, Hot Nights, Photo shoots, and Celebrating Everything. What do you love about summer according to this shirt?

Leave it to the always darling Cheryl Cole to dress up a slouchy tee the right way. I am dying to pair a hot sequin blazer with this I'm In Love Potion Tee. I just love this whole look!

Do I minorly have an obsession with hearts? Yes. Oh well, they just bring such a big smile to my face. I want to sport this J'adore Crest Sweatshirt to the Farmers Market on Sunday with some cute jean shorts and my converse tennies. Casual but fun. Also maybe a little Kelly Kapowsi-ish?

I told ya'll a while back that I was seriously digging skulls that aren't quite so rough and a little bit girly. Well this Oversized Love Bones Tee is right up my alley. Hearts as the eyes, dare I say cute? Slouchy and comfy...even better! Love it!

Yes the brand is on the pricier side, and they are only t-shirts....but I can't help it. I really want to add just one piece to my closet. I love how they are edgy but still fun and I also just really love their ads. If you are thinking these shirts look familiar, it's probably because you have seen many celebs such as Christina, J Lo, Kristin Cavallari, Katy Perry and Ashley Tisdale sporting their designs.

What you think? Fun and flirty or dumb and dirty? Would you wear any of these styles?

Forever Frugal Friday - Spring Basics

This weekend is supposed to get into the 80's here in LA and I couldn't be happier. However, I was browsing my wardrobe and noticed I need to start stocking up on some Spring basics. Here are the three items I am hoping to pick up this weekend.

This Braided Trim Knit Dress is a perfect swimsuit cover up or running errands around town. Throw a cardigan over it, some leggings and flats and you can easily stay warm once the sun goes down.

This Sleeveless Drawstring Top is a fantastic piece to add to wear with any denim bottom. It's a little fancier than a T-Shirt but still casual enough for that dive bar or bonfire party.

I love navy and green together and this Striped Slub Knit Top reminds me of that darling Splendid tank I have been wanting but at a much friendly price. I would pretty much wear this with any and everything!

What spring basic can you not live without?

Forever Frugal Friday - Saved By The Bell Style

While searching for this weeks frugal find, I crossed paths with this Darling Sue Knit Top, and I instantly flashed back to my favorite episode of Saved By The Bell, you know the one.....Hot Sundaes, Caffeine Pills, a certain Pointer Sister song....

I mean this Sue Knit Top is a complete combination of Jessie Spano's outfit in this video. Which makes me kind of really want it for some reason. It may not be the most fashionable of tops, but it would really work well for the next SBTB party you are attending!

I'm so excited, I'm so excited, I'm so...glad it's Friday!

Designer Crush ~ Yumi Kim

I first learned of the awesome designs of Yumi Kim from my girl Jaime B (now Mrs. F). I borrowed this cute silk number to wear to the Sex and the City movie premiere with the girls.

Please excuse The Hulk...He was upset about his movie not doing so well...

From what I can tell, all of Yumi Kim's designs are made from this yummy soft silk and the patterns are bright, bold and fun. These designs are not for those bland at heart. Below are some of my favorite pieces from her Summer 2009 Collection (may I please have one of each).

I have been eying this Woori Paintbrush Top for quite some time, and it just went on sale across the street (uh-oh). I want to wear it with white pants to a outdoor eatery. Accessory of choice: glass of champagne.

I am still hesitant to think I call pull of the romper look, but I might just give this Nicole Romper a shot. Love the color, love the print and love that subtle ruching.

This dress screams "Hello Summer" to me. The Woori Dress in Green Pixie is just what that casual shindig you've been fretting about calls for. Light and airy with a fun ruffle to top it off. Love it!

Miami called, they want me to come back and visit wearing this hot fuchsia Juniper Natalie Dress. I am happy to oblige.

Going out for drinks with the girls or that special guy has never looked sassier than in this
Beige Abstract Silk Andrea Halter. Foxy!

Last but most definitely not least this purple Hydrangea Mandy Top can get your from work, to play in no time at all. The tiered layers are feminine and sexy at the same time.

Now comes the REALLY good part. If you are loving Yumi's designs as much as I am, Lucky Magazine fashioned up one fabulous discount code to use at Yumi Kim. Just enter "luckybreaks8" at checkout to receive not 10, not 20, but rather 30% off you goods. It's just that easy. Yay!

Forever Frugal Friday

Yesterday I was browsing Bloomies phenomenal sale (an additional 50% off all clearance items) and came across this funky t-shirt by LNA...

The cotton was super soft and the zipper gave it a little flair from all the other tees around. Only problem was that $73 was a bit too much to be spending on a t-shirt. Which is why I was super excited this morning to find this...

True the zipper is vertical versus horizontal but for $9.80, who cares? I am picturing this tee with jean shorts, gladiator sandals and a straw fedora for that concert in the park. Funky and fresh - love it!

Forever Frugal Friday

My friends band is playing tonight in Venice and I have been racking my brain trying to figure out what to wear. Something casual but a little edgy. This Zipper Front Ruched Top is kind of exactly what I am looking for.

You can decide exactly how "rock star" you want to be with the a flick of the zipper. Personally, I think I will keep it all the way up and sport some great earrings, skinny jeans and high heels.

Keep on rocking!

Forever Frugal Friday

I think this H81 Marion Knit Top is the essential piece for everyone to own this summer. It's light and breezy and perfect with jean shorts, jeans or a cute simple skirt. I love the cutouts at the shoulder and hem. Feminine and lovely, ideal for that BBQ that you just can't figure out what to wear.

Designer Crush: FCUK

My latest designer crush (who's kidding who, I have been crushing for awhile) is French Connection. Whenever I cruise the local Macy's I am continuously drawn to their dresses and designs. Classic styles, and fun colors or details make their clothing popular and lovely. Here are a few of my current faves...

The Bonny Cotton dress would be the perfect summer wedding guest dress. Flirty, current and fun!

TheFast Wizard dress comes in a variety of colors and is the dress that I continue to pick up and try to justify buying. Yes it is just a simple, strapless dress, but the shape is just soo cute!

The Racy dress would be perfect for a summer shower, or day out of the yacht. I love the clean lines, crisp white and contrasting navy squiggles. Throw on some big sunglasses and a hat and you could fully fit in at The Hampton's.

This sexy Sea Silk top would look incredible white white jeans for a dinner date or drinks with the girls. Love the color and love the details in the back!

I am dying to get back to Miami and if I could this year, this Spot the Dot dress would definitely be accompanying me there. Sexy, flirty and floral = one happy traveler!

I am always looking for a casual day dress the doubles work and summer play and this Tomboy Twill dress may just do the trick. Love the bright pop of yellow and button detailing on top.

I have had my eye on this Spring Cotton sweater for sometime. It makes me smile and reminisce about my younger years. As I am pretty sure that I had this exact print or something VERY similar back in 1987 that I wore to death.

Go FCUK yourself!

Forever Frugal Friday: The Review

I received a Forever 21 GC from sister for my birthday back in February and just got around to spending it last week. I thought I would share my purchases and review the good, the bad, and the ugly...

First the Bad....

I purchased the Strapless Pleat Front Dress in blue after I saw my cute coworkers pics from Vegas in it. At under $15 I felt I couldn't go wrong. Well I ordered the size M and it was much too big for my upper area and just kept falling down. I proceeded to visit my local Forever and try on the same dress in a S but of course they were completely out...I am trying another tonight after work...

The Fab Colorblock Bubble Dress was anything but fab on me. It had a great fitting top, but the dress was much too short for this shorty...

I took a chance on these Metal Aviator Sunglasses. They are a bit big for my face, but the thing I dislike the most about them is rhinestones across the top. However, I am to blame as the description of the product clearly states rhinestones are present. Oh well, since they were an accessory they were final sale and have since become my walk the dog in the morning shades. All was not lost.

The Good.....

I have had my eye on this Woven 3Q Gingham Shirt for awhile and am happy to say that it has been a GREAT purchase. I have already worn it twice with leggings but am looking to sport it like the model above hopefully for concerts in the park this summer.

I am always looking for a good pair of gold earrings to jazz up a simple jean and tee look. These Filigree Medallion Duo Earrings are perfect blend of tarnished gold that look like you have owned them for years. I haven't actually worn them yet, but they seem like they may be a little on the heavier side, which makes me a little nervous.

All five of the purchases above totalled $49.50! STEAL!!!

Silver Lining...

Since I had to return the much too short tube dress and the much too big in the bust dress, I received a gift card with the returns back on it and spotted this adorable Peyton Flower Ring at the counter.

I have been looking for a cute cocktail ring for quite some time and this puppy fit the bill to a T! Gotta love those impulse buys right at the register!

My experiences ordering via Forever 21 was a pleasant one. Returning the dresses was a piece of cake and seriously 5 items for $49.50??? Now I have $22.50 left over and am planning to find spend it as soon as possible for a little something for Miami.

Woo-hoo!

Forever Frugal Friday

Today, the girls and I were brainstorming cute outfits for our friend to wear on her driving range date. I think this Polka Dot Trapeze Top would look perfectly preppy, yet flirty with some white pants. Nothing in the way to restrict her swing, she can simply add a cardigan for drinks and dinner afterwards.

Watch out Tiger!

Forever Frugal Friday

Dilemma: Keeping your work shirts tucked into your skirt or pants.

Solution: The Bodysuit

Yes, I am a bit hesitant to share this find with you, but awhile back the lovely Mrs. R expressed her frustration with keeping work tops tucked in with suits. She explained that she had been looking for bodysuits and I just about spit my mouthful of water into her face.

I was taken back to seventh grade when bodysuits were kind of cool, and even though I wore them, I hated them. Now, as I attempt to look somewhat “fashionable” at work, while still keeping it “corporate”, I am constantly struggling to keep my shirt from sneaking out the top of my skirt. I love the sophisticated and clean look of a tucked in shirt with a skinny belt, but when achieving the look, not so easy.

So my friends, it is with great hesitation (and a bit of embarrassment) that I let you all know that I am considering rekindling my friendship with the bodysuit. It will strictly be a “business only” relationship and probably hidden deep in the depths of my closet. I think this Ruffle Front Satin Bodysuit is a good start to our new relationship.

Okay, opinion time…

I think the bodysuit is…
A) Practical
B) Stupid
C) Awesome
D) All of the Above
