Forever Frugal Friday

I absolutely need this Layered Beaded Section Necklace this summer.  The perfect statement piece to dress up your simple tank top, maxi dress or anything really.

Last February I purchased one of my favorite items in my wardrobe a striped blazer from H&M that cost me a whopping $24.  Every time I wear it I get compliments and it is sold out all over from what I can tell.  I forwarded this Striped Knit Blazer over to my coworker and although it isn't exactly the same it is pretty close and still a great deal.

Forever Frugal Friday ~ Cocktail Party Chic

(click picture to enlarge)

Next Saturday I am attending a cocktail party at my bosses house and then heading to the bars to celebrate my friend taking his LSAT.  Two very different crowds and two very different occasions.  However, I think the outfit above will allow me to transition from each party effortlessly.

I realize the necklace is a little matchy to the skirt but, I don't really mind.  And the leather jacket will help keep me warm but also add a little fun.  I am also considering bringing a backup White V-Neck to change into for the bars (also in case I spill on myself at the party).

A little bit of dazzle and sparkle is just what the holidays need and this skirt is sure to get the job done.

Forever Frugal Friday ~ Thanksgiving Style

With Thanksgiving less than a week away, I realized I still haven't figured out what I am planning to wear to my two Thanksgiving gatherings.  I came across the two outfits below and think they are both contenders...

This first look I am heavily leaning towards.  I love the casualness of it, but also the instant glamour with the addition of the Sequin Crop Jacket.  You can pick up your own Skinny Knit Pants which are sure to allow some stretch so you can enjoy all the food goodness.  A slouchy white shirt I already own in my closet and some different heels, and I am good to go.

But then I wonder if I shouldn't head down a fancier route with this Lamé Contrast Dress instead.  I love the look with the booties and would perhaps toughen it up a bit with the addition of this Ribbed Collar Leatherette Jacket.  The dress still allows room for your food baby but conceals it well and allows you to look very dazzling.

Which outfit gets your vote?  Or do neither work and you have a better thought of what I should wear?!  Thanks ladies!

Forever Frugal Friday

LA received a little rain this week and to be honest I didn't hate it as much as I thought I would.  I actually quite enjoyed dusting off my black boots and pulling out my jackets.  While I love the sunny, hot temperatures it is nice every now and again to experience the crispness that is fall.

I realized this past week that I really need to pick up some essential pieces for fall.  My gf Jaime is always dressed so cute and puts together these ladylike rocker looks that I am always envious of.  So the above is my "frugal" version of looks that I have been seeing around that I would like to wear myself.  A little bit tough, and yet still sweet with those pearls.  I am thinking the above ensemble would be perfect for dinner and cocktails before a concert.

Cozy Coats

The rain arrived on Monday here in LA and had me (and every other LA resident) reaching deep into our closets to pull out those dusty coats. I quickly realized that since I moved from Seattle to Washington, my coat collection has become non-existent and mostly consists of light zippy's. Which means the hunt for the perfect fall leading into winter search begins. Here are a few I have my eye on...

I love this red Warm Peacoat from AE. Would look fab with jeans or work attire.

Like a little edge with your plaid? This AE Plaid Bomber Jacket could be exactly what I need to shake up my wardrobe a bit.

Even though I am a shorty, I still love the look of long jackets and to be honest I want this Double-Breasted Wool Blend Coat mostly because the color is chinchilla (and I love chinchillas).

I am thinking this Tweed Military Jacket is the front runner so far. I tried it on at the Gap and just fell in love.

Oh FCUK! I just adore this Lark High Collar Wool Coat and think it looks just so warm and snuggly. The price tag....not so much.

I think this La Jolla Shores jacket is pretty spiffy...but am a bit hesitant about the sleeves...they look like they are 3/4...but the colors are pretty fun and would stand out in a crowd of solids.

This West Street Jacket is not very practical for LA but I would love to have it to wear in Seattle when I head there in December.

I love the simplicity yet bold pop of fuchsia this Leighton Skirted Coat brings to the table.

Of course you just cannot go wrong with a classic black Belted Felt Coat from Forever. The color will always be in style and the button details give set it apart from all the other black jackets.

I will be sure to update ya'll with which coat I select! Happy hunting!

Gift Giving #11: I've Got My Coat To Keep Me Warm

As I brace myself for the chilly, beyond cold weather that I will be encountering next week in Seattle, I realized that I must share my most recent purchase that not only keeps me comfy, cozy, and warm but also stylish and fancy. If you have a cold weather friend that can never seem to find her jacket, pick her up this Classic Pea Coat (the cream is the perfect winter white)from Forever 21. Totally affordable, stylish and it looks WAY more expensive then it really is.

Cheers!
