2011 MET Ball Fashion

The MET Ball was last night and while there were some gorgeous dresses, I wasn't overly impressed with any of the fashion choices sadly.  In fact, I feel there were more poor fashion choices then good ones.  But in an effort to keep things positive, let's focus on the winners from last night...

Sheer Nice Seeing You

Although I tend to appreciate the bright and bold dresses over the neutrals the combination of sheer fabric, and sparkle is always dynamic as these lovely ladies displayed to all.

Ashley Greene was flawless in Donna Karan

The always incredible Diane Kruger threw a little drama to her sheerness in Jason Wu.

Although I am not loving her new red locks (i mean she is still drop dead - duh) I am loving every single thing about this Chanel Haute Couture gown.  She looks like a goddess!

Brilliant & Bold

Michael Kors has me crushing again with his neon pink designs, this time on Brooklyn Decker who is radiant in the simple gown.

My favorite look head to toe goes to Miss Ginnifer Goodwin in Topshop.  The color is amazing and her accessorizing spot on.  Perfection.

I have thought Liv Tyler was drop dead gorgeous since the Crazy video and some 17 years later she is even more beautiful and I love lightness and springy feeling of this Givenchy Haute Couture gown.

Am I the only one who is loving Gwyenth recent reemergence into the spotlight?  I mean I know she has always been a fix in the fashion world, but the girl just keeps getting better with age and her fashion choices.  For example, clearly winning in this Stella McCartney gown.

What in the World???

was Freida Pinto thinking when she selected this Chanel Haute Couture gown?  I mean I know she was thinking, it's CHANEL, but....

was Fergie trying to replicate the much loved royal wedding look of long sleeve lace?  If so, she should leave it to the Duchess of Cambridge to own that look because she looks like a hot mess in this Marchesa gown.

Mary Kate, we get it.  Your are a bohemian queen, but this vintage Givenchy is too big and a bohemian mess.

Hey Rashida, you are a little late to prom.  I would have killed for this Stella McCartney dress for my prom in 1998.  However I am sure the attendees for prom 2011 will expect to see their mothers or chaperone's in this gown instead.

What were your thoughts on the MET Ball?  Any looks that you were head over heels for?  Any that you found revolting?

Fall 2011 RTW Collections - WWRZD Edition

Who else is super excited about Oscar fashions on Sunday? I have to say that my favorite episodes of The Rachel Zoe Project is her securing dresses for her celebs for award season!  Talk about stress and excitement.

Will Fashion Week wrapping up last week in NYC and still happening over in London, I thought I would take a stab at Rachel Zoe's profession and try and dress all the best actress and best supporting actress nominees for Sunday.  I in no way shape or form even try and compare my selections with the uber talented Zoe, but below you will find my own version of What Would Rachel Zoe Do (WWRZD)....

{click to enlarge all pictures from NY Mag}

I love Amy Adams and think she would look stunning in navy blue Naeem Khan or a sparkling goddess in Pamela Roland.

I am hoping Annette Bening puts a little more effort into her hair this awards season.  Regardless, she would look magnificent in this Diane Von Furstenberg gown.

Sweet little Hailee Steinfeld was difficult, as she is only 14, so I wouldn't want to age her in any of the gowns but also need to steer clear of cleavage and sexiness.  I think the Monique Lhuillier is angelic and the Badgley Mischka would look radiant against her gorgeous hair.

Helena Bonham-Carter is funky and interesting with all of her selections and as much as I would love to see her in something like the Badgley Mischka gown (feathers make it funky), I think she will veer more towards the style of this Marchesa gown which I think would suit her perfectly.

I don't know much about Jacki Weaver, but I think this Ralph Lauren dress is the perfect shade for her coloring and also a flattering fit for her figure.

My recent girl crush Jennifer Lawrence wowed me at the Golden Globes in that bright pink number, and I think she would absolutely shut.it.down in this teal John Richmond gown.  She would just glow!

I love Melissa Leo and have a feeling she will be taking home the statue, so she needs to dazzle and this Oscar de la Renta will do just that.

Her Valentino daisy number for the Golden Globes was all wrong and I am left hoping Michelle Williams will go either bright and sparkly or sexy and sparkly.  Either dress will flatter her pixie cut.

Red is the perfect color for Natalie the sure winner for Best Actress on Sunday.  This gown will accentuate her growing bump and standout when she is accepting her Oscar.

Is it just me or has Nicole Kidman been a lot more personable on the red carpet lately?  I am leaning towards the Naeem Khan dress, but either would make her look statuesque on Sunday.

Anne Hathaway has a great job hosting the awards and will no doubt be sporting numerous gowns through the telecast.  I am crossing my fingers this Oscar de la Renta is one of them!

She isn't nominated but always kills it on the red carpet at any awards show.  I want this new mama to be to walk down the carpet in this show stopping Marchesa.  Stunning.

What celebs are you most excited to see on the red carpet?  Do you think my picks will land my celebs on the best dressed or answering to Joan Rivers and the Fashion Police?  What was your favorite Fall 2011 RTW show?

Ciao luvies!

Spring 2011 RTW Collections

Last October when I browsed the Spring 2010 RTW Collections Elie Saab stood out the most for me and I had some fun pairing celebs together with dresses.  Well after reviewing most of the collections for 2011, I again I have picked out my favorite gowns and paired them with the celeb I think would rock them hardcore.  I like to think that I am letting my inner Rachel Zoe out.

Oh Christian Siriano, how I adore you!  I mean not only was he fabulous on Project Runway, but he also created an amazing affordable shoe collection for Payless (the pumps I am currently sporting today).  And then he does this...this spectacular Spring 2011 RTW Collection that included this magnificent gown above that is part Peaches and Cream Barbie and all good.  This is a lot of dress and the first girl that came to mind is the gorgeous Dianna Agron from Glee.  I want her to present an award and just wow the crowd in this one - perhaps the Golden Globes?

Kate Hudson could absolutely carry this simple but ethereal Badgley Mischka RTW Collection gown.  It's a bit hippy like Kate but just plain gorgeous.  This dress would also be perfect for presenting an award at the SAG Awards or Golden Globes.

Drew Barrymore has evolved into quite a fashionable gal these past few years.  She has worn some bold choices that seem questionable, and yet perfect for her at the same time.  I think she would dazzle in this Jenny Packham Spring RTW Collection dress.  It is sexy and bold and requires the perfectly confident gal to wear it and Drew gets my vote for this one.

Natalie Portman has been receiving a lot of Oscar Buzz for her new film Black Swan in which she plays a ballerina.  This Lela Rose Spring RTW Collection gown would be perfect for one of the many film premieres.  It is elegant, rich and looks like it belongs on a ballerina.  Natalie always looks good on the red carpet whether she is sporting a shaved head or a fancy updo.  The entire Lela Rose collections was full of beautiful colors and I would love to own any of the pieces.

I hate to admit that I haven't seen An Education yet, nor Wal Street: Money Never Sleeps but Carey Mulligan seems to have created quite a name for herself.  Her cute pixie cut and darling smile are so doll like to me, so when I saw this Marchesa Spring RTW Collection baby doll gown I though of none other than Carey.  She seems a little retro and Audrey Hepburn-ish and I think this dress would look so great on the red carpet.  Since it is a little more casual, I would deem it more appropriate for a movie premiere or the SAG Awards.

Marchesa also featured this fun one shoulder shorty that Cameron Diaz would so own on at a movie premiere.  It would show off her toned shoulders and gorgeous gams.  It also is a little playful and fun, which would really allow Cameron's personality to shine.

Julia Roberts is sure to be making the rounds this coming award season with her role in Eat, Pray, Love.  She may not be nominated, but you can guarantee she will be making some red carpet appearances and she has always done such a great job of wearing pieces that flatter her and make her shine.  Well, this Oscar de la Renta Spring RTW Collection  sparkly number should allow just that.  Her radiant smile won't be the only thing you are looking at.

I always love whatever Rachel Bilson is wearing and I have been missing her all dressed up.  I would like for her to make an appearance at the Golden Globes and wear this Oscar de la Renta  dress pretty please.  I love the print and just know that Miss Bilson would absolutely end up on the best dressed list in this gown.

What was your favorite Spring 2011 RTW Collection?  Where there any collections you absolutely hated?  Do you agree with my celeb selections or would you change them out with different celebs?

Balmain Fall 2010 RTW

In anticipation of Sunday night glamour, I browsed a few collections over at NY Magazine and was blown away with the Balmain collection of shimmering gold which made me think of that lovely gold statue all will be vying for. The suits, the cocktail dresses, the gowns - just lovely!

This was the initial piece that caught my eye. The beautiful neckline looks like she is just dripping in gold.

This little number is perfect for Los Angeles and rooting on the awesome Lakers!

My favorite look however is this sexy dress with bold shoulders and tons of glamour.

I haven't had a chance to look through the rest of the Fall 2010 RTW collections, any that I must see? Any that I should just avoid? What are your favorite collections?

Elie Saab Spring 2010 RTW Collection

I will admit I am a little late in enjoying all the designs from Fashion Week, but just had to share the gorgeousness that is Elie Saab. You have seen his magnificent designs on the likes of Beyonce, Angelina, and January Jones (some of my favorite looks) and it is almost always guaranteed that his creations will be featured in the best dressed list.

His Spring 2010 RTW did not disappoint and I anticipate a few of these gowns will be rocking the award shows come January.

I am picturing this look for a award nomination brunch.

This outfit was made for Charlize Theron in my mind...perhaps she can present a Grammy?

This one is for Hayden Panettiere and the Golden Globes. I like to keep her in short and sexy dresses as whenever she wears those long gowns, she looks instantly old in my opinion.

This hot number I would select for Jennifer Aniston. Perhaps to her next movie premiere?

This red gown is such a show stopper that the woman wearing it needs to "own" it tough. I am thinking Hilary Swank? Her long and lean body would definitely be able to carry the draping of this fabric and the bold red!

I DIE for this gown! I am thinking that Anne Hathaway or Kate Hudson would just kill it on the red carpet with this number. Fabulously chic, sparkly and a little edgy. H-O-T!

What have been your favorite collections? Do you have a better celeb that you think one of these dresses would fit better? Let me know! More collections to come (as I let my inner Rachel Zoe out)!

Project Runway Season VI Rundown

Oh my goodness! How am I already two episodes behind? I finally caught up on Project Runway this weekend and I have to say that I am pretty impressed so far. Here's the rundown so far (spoilers ahead)....

Episode 1 ~ Drop It Like It's Red Carpet Hot

This episodes challenge was to create a "red carpet look". Pretty generic yes, but they had quite the range of red carpets to choose from. It was so nice to see the return of debonair Tim, ultra tan Michael, always stylish Nina and my fave supermodel of all time Heidi (I could have done without Lindsanity).

YBB Faves:

Glamorous and sexy as hell, designer Irina did not disappoint!

{via}

I am already a huge supporter of Louise. I think this dress deserved to be in the final two.

Winning Design:

{via}

Christopher wowed the judges and myself with this tiered ruffle party dress perfect for the VMA's. Creative, fun and flirty...watch out for this self taught designer.

Bottom Two:

{via}

Mitchell, Mitchell, Mitchell...I know you blamed your sheer hot mess on the model being bigger (gosh forbid) than the measurements on her card, but this dress was bad from the get go. Blech. Stevie Nicks called, she wants her dress from Stand Back Tour back.

{via}

Poor Ari...I am not sure what planet she was on when this challenge was assigned but Heidi and the rest of the judges felt fit to keep her out there a little bit longer with her elimination from the competition. WTF is this outfit seriously? (On a random side note, am I the only one who thinks Ari looks JUST like Samantha Ronson if she wore makeup...unfortunately for Miss Ari, Lindsay Lohan was just not that into her designs.)

Episode 2 ~ Yo Mama

This challenge was actually quite clever as when are you ever gonna see those runway models with tummies like that? (Never is the answer). Rebecca Romijn was not only the muse and inspiration but also the celebrity guest judge. Her only requirements for this challenge was a cute, fitted maternity outfit for any event. The designers creations ranged from totally chic to freak on the street...

YBB Faves:

Louise again did not disappoint with this hand dyed, layered satin number. Absolutely stunning.

{via}

Althea created a totally sexy, flawless navy blue gown with ribbon bust. It was so pretty, and totally a dress anyone could wear regardless of if they were preggers or not.

Winner:

Shirin wowed the judges with intricate stitching along the waist and a pretty coat to top the dress off. Personally I thought Louise or Althea should have won, but I can see the appeal of this number.

Bottom Two:

{via}

Mitchell found himself yet AGAIN in the bottom two. But not because his design lacked promise, more that his short making skills were WAY off. I mean, I was watching thinking, can't you just cut the inseam and bring them in a bit? Apparently the answer was no, and these sloppy shorts made their debut down the runway. Yuck.

{via}

However, it was Malvin who got the boot with his weird concept taken a bit too literal and too far. I mean this model looks like she is carrying the baby around post pregnancy...A sling with cute pants and a top with feathers was all it ended up being. And so sweet little Malvin got Auf'ed.

So far my favorite designers are Althea, Louise, Christopher, Johnny and Carol. Tonight's episode has the designers pairing up which always makes for drama and interesting collaborations. Can't wait! See you tomorrow with another rundown!
