I'm Loving It...(Shh...Don't Tell)

The Starbucks "Red Cup" is back!!!

I found myself in a funny situation today.  I was overjoyed by the return of the red cup, but then felt annoyed that it seems a little too soon...like perhaps November 15th would have been a better day to release the glorious red cup.

I will tell you that it is FAR TOO EARLY for the holiday music that greeted me today at Macy's while browsing the racks.  Unacceptable.  I love holiday music more than the average person and it is too soon.  Holiday music after Thanksgiving all for it.

Which makes me wonder...am I a hypocrite for loving and smiling at this beautiful red cup and cursing out loud at Macy's for playing holiday?  You be the judge.

Truth be told...I can't wait to get my new red cup tomorrow ;)

Summer Essentials Series ~ Menu a la Marguerite!

Happy Friday to you all!  Wrapping up this weeks summer essentials is one of my fave gal pals Marge (really Lisa) from Menu a la Marguerite.  I met Marge in college officially at WSU but quickly realized we actually met for the first time our senior year of high school when I was a guest judge for cheerleading at her high school - small world.  Years later we are still buds and this gal has way of just making me giggle over just about anything.  The beautiful Marge is also a bride to be with "Forever Young" nuptials just around the corner (can't wait!).  Head on over to Menu a la Marguerite for great recipes, photos and fun!

*What one item can you not be without this summer?*

Jennifer Anniston Perfume - I. LOVE. IT.  Smells like a beach and makes me feel sexy!  I love it so much that when I broke my original bottle in New York I went to the mall next door to our hotel and bought another one.

*What are you craving for summer 2011?*

Vita Coco water.  I love anything that tastes or smells like coconut.  Although this is neither, really, it helps keep me hydrated and refreshed on a hot day!  Available at Costco for super cheap in a 12 pak.

*What is your essential summer song for 2011?*

I have a few:

Thank you Marge for sharing your summer picks!  I rushed out and smelled the Jen Anny perfume after you raved about it and I have to agree it is a great scent, very beachy and summery!  And you know I love coconut water also, but lately have been also enjoying Aloe Vera Water....and "Suds in the Bucket" is one of my faves!

I hope ya'll have a fabulous summer weekend, we only have a few left!!!
XOXO

Hello YBB readers! I am so happy to be back for the third year to share my Summer Essentials with all of you...you can check out 2009 and 2010 as well...

*What one item can you not be without this summer?*

This summer I cannot live without my favorite cat eye sunglasses. Mine are from Urban Outfitters(and only 10!), but you can find them anywhere, My motto when it comes to sunnies is The Bigger the Better, and these are no exception.

*What are you craving for summer 2011?*

Summer 2011 has been an interesting one thus far, full of a lot of changes and decisions on my end. So, what am I craving? For it all to work out how it supposed to. And for me to just relax. And to enjoy a cocktail or two while it all falls into place..like this one featured on The Glitter Guide.

*What is your essential summer song for 2011?*

Ok, this was a lot harder than I thought to choose a song. Bc I currently have been listening to "Give Me Everything" since February, so I don't consider it a summer song, but man everytime it is on the radio(which seems like every 5 min in LA) I dance in the car. or my room. or in my cube.  I also am obsessed with Katy Perry's "Last Friday Night" but am really embarrassed by that-and I mostly think it is because it describes college.. So, I went with another song from Planet Pit, which is such a fun cd that just makes me want to dance on every track.  "Shake Senora Remix" featuring T-Pain, Sean Paul, and Ludacris will get you ready to go out dancing with your girlfriends.

I couldn't agree more about the sunglasses and that sparkletini looks just perfect for summer time!  And you know that I just adore me some pitbull!  Shake Senora is one I haven't heard yet, and will be downloading immediately!   A huge thanks again to Danielle for her awesome lists that just keep getting better!  I cannot wait for our next lunch and shopping excursion.

Tomorrow my sorority sister Emily will be back with her summer list!

I'm Loving' It

The new Starbucks "Very Berry Hibiscus" Refresher is muy bueno!  I was very hesitant to try this coffee drink that tastes nothing like coffee, but let me just tell you it is so delish.  A grande drink only has 70 calories and it contains freeze-dried berries as well.  Once I finish my beverages, I fill my cup of with water and enjoy my "spa" water at my desk.  If you are lucky enough to have them sampling it at your local Sbux, make sure you give it a try.

Also loving the Hunger Games Triology.  I am on the final book of the series and trying to find any excuse to read it.

This bright, cheery and a little bit nautical look from Atlantic-Pacific.  I mean let's be honest, all of her outfits are lust-worthy but this one just screams glamorous fun in the sun.

Even though I am perfectly content and still loving my Yellow KitchenAid Mixer, I fell in love at first sight with this KitchenAid Artisan Susan G. Komen Stand Mixer in Raspberry Ice.  Not only would it be a brilliantly bold addition to any kitchen, but with the purchase of this mixer you are also contributing to the Susan G. Komen Cook for the Cure®’s efforts to cure breast cancer.

This ring and grey nail polish combo.  Whenever I see this photo I instantly want to run to the nearest beauty supply and pick up a bottle of grey polish (preferably chinchilly).  Grey, yellow, turquoise and a little bit of gold...possibly new bedroom color scheme?

Visits from friends and babies that include dinners at garlic ball heaven C&O Trattoria in Venice.

Holding sweet little buddy Raleigh while soaking up rays, sipping some wine at Sip in Malibu and reminiscing with friends.  This past weekend Coffey and Cabe flew down from Seattle so that many of us could meet little Raleigh as well as the handsome Easton.  It was a weekend of making the best of roadblocks and rules and fully of laughter and smiles.  So much fun!

My San Francisco Treat

Is anyone else amazed that it is already the middle of May and we are approaching summer at rapid speed?  Not that I am complaining, but I am just getting around to sharing our fun trip up north to San Francisco!

We arrived into San Fran early and hopped on the BART (so awesome) to the Galleria Park to check in.  The hotel was super cute and offered a complimentary wine hour (with very tasty wines) from 5:30-6:30 which we utilized before dinner.

We had originally planned to take the ferry to Tiberon as suggested by the lovely Danielle but ended up at the wrong pier and were too lazy to walk to the correct one and our hunger was really starting to set it.  Bad thing about San Fran on a Sunday...lots of places were closed so we spent a good amount of time searching for a spot to eat at.

Luckily we found that Prospect was open (a restaurant that was on my list) and headed inside for some grub and booze.  I enjoyed the savory cheesy grits and a pompelmo frizzante (above) while B went for the prospector breakfast and the strawberry smasher.  Everything was incredible.  It is a restaurant that I will most definitely be visiting again next time I am in town and if you live in SF, should be dining at whenever you get the chance!

With our tummies full of food and a nice little morning buzz, we explored the Embarcadero and took in the beautiful skies and amazing city views.  We really lucked out with the weather during our visit.

After debating mucho about where to head for dinner, we finally agreed upon The Slanted Door, my coworkers favorite restaurant and highly rated by the critics.  We tried to make a reservation but they were already booked solid, so we gambled to eat at the bar and wouldn't you know we totally lucked into two seats very quickly.

I enjoyed a lovely glass of white (after indulging in our complimentary wine hour back at the hotel) and B tried out The Old Fashioned and we were not disappointed.  We started off with tuna tartare and the barbecued willis ranch pork spareribs which were both full of so much flavor and straight up perfection.  I ordered the braised alaskan halibut and B ordered the grass-fed estancia shaking beef.  We finished up with the vanilla bean crème brûlée and left very pleased with our selections.

Another must to any visitor to the city!

We were lucky enough to meet up with my sorority sister, bride to be and new resident of San Fran Kris and her hubby to be Kevin.  The bars around the pier were all mostly closed for the evening but we managed to find a place open and enjoy some beers and catching up.

{EP, AT&T Park, B&Me}

Monday morning started off a little later than Sunday as we headed to the marina to meet my gf and recent mom EP and meet baby Claire.  We had planned to meet at American Cupcake, but were sad to see they were closed on Mondays - FAIL.  Another FAIL...catching the bus to the marina, ending up on Union Street, getting off the bus only to realize we were a mile away still and watched the bus drive away... We proceeded to the closest open restaurant and had a lovely time catching up.

We then rushed back to the hotel threw on our game gear and headed out to MoMo's for some pregame beers with some of B's friends.  From there we walked across the street to AT&T Park for an amazing sunset, a Dodger win and an incredible stadium.  Most definitely the prettiest park I have ever been to.

We ended the night with some drinks at 21st Amendment Brewery where I indulged in the Hell or High Watermelon brew and I have been craving it ever since.  The perfect summer time beer!  Now I just need to find a way to get it down here...

Tuesday was a day of exploring.  We started off in Union Square, walked down to AT&T Park to sample the famous Philz Coffee and then decided to walk through the Ferry Building again.  The architecture of the building and all the signs were fun to see and left me wanting to stop at every stand.  However we kept on moving and walked next to Fisherman's Wharf.

We decided to reward ourselves with some beers and absinthe at Cioppino's before trekking up Hyde street to see Lombard street.  We were pretty close to Knob Hill and I wanted to explore a little and then we realized we were pretty close to Union Square so why not walk back to our hotel and enjoy the outdoors some more.  Not the best idea for our feet, but at the end of the day we calculated we walked 8 miles round trip.  I wasn't feeling so bad about our food decisions the past few days after that.

{walking up Hyde Street & Philz Coffee}

It was such a fun trip that flew by us so fast that there was still so much left to see and do.  B and I both decided to make it an annual trip and explore new spots whenever we arrive.  Thanks B for such a romantic, fun, getaway - can't wait to do it again!

I would like to thank you all for the suggestions and ideas, I have saved them all for our next visit and would love to hear any more places as you think of them!  And of course a huge thanks as well to my roomie Aves for keeping an eye on Mr. Waldo while I was away.

Scenes From The Weekend

Enjoyed a (strong) glass of Abey Leffe Blonde out of a Chimay glass at The Local Peasant in Sherman Oaks for my dear friend Ron Weasley (AKA James) birthday.

Note to Self: Must return to The Local Peasant soon and eat an actual meal.  The food looked incredible!  Deviled eggs with bacon?!? Sign me up!

Congratulated an old pal at Village Idiot for Sunday brunch.

Enjoyed the sunny and upper 70's degree weather outside with B on Melrose.

Note to Self: Work on a more natural looking pose for photos.

Tried out a new *healthy* recipe courtesy of the Trader Joe's Cookbook - Portobello (also seen it spelled Portabella) Mushroom Polenta Stacks.

Note to Self: Work on food photography skills.

I'm Lovin' It

The packaging of all the Honore des Pres perfumes.  I am head over heels in love with the Vamp A NY scent and have included it in my Holiday Wishlist.  The scent is a little bit sweetart meets a little bit spicy.  Pure goodness really.

These Loeffler Randall Back Zip Rubber Rain Boots.  I love the color and really love the edgy zipper in the back.  They are also slightly more affordable than the leather pair I have been eyeing.

Those crazy ass bizzos over on The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills.  I have my favorites (Lisa for sure) and then there are those that are just wacky (Taylor and Camille).  I am loving that they let us into their lives.

These beautiful, sparkly, ultra lovely frocks from Elie Saab's Spring 2011 RTW Collection.  Oh what I wouldn't do to one of those dresses.

Enjoying the Starbucks Christmas Blend in my "Red Cup" as I continue to wade through The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo

The Cranberry Bliss Bars are back.  Trouble.  Trouble. Trouble.

The glittering goodness that is the OPI Burlesque Holiday 2010 Collection

This TDF bold yellow dress from the Lanvin for H&M Collection.

Trader Joe's Candy Cane Green Tea is a little cup of Christmas.  I only wish it were not decaf.

I sometimes have a really hard time stopping myself from eating an entire canister of these Blue Diamond Sea Salt Almonds, which is these Blue Diamond Natural Oven Roasted Almonds, 100 Calorie Bags, Sea Salt 7 ea are perfect for portion control.

Happy {Harvest} Weekend

Woo-hoo!  This week went super fast for me and I am so happy it is Friday!  This weekend my pals and I will be celebrating our third annual "Oktoberfest/Harvest/Fall" party, where we sip seasonal fall brews, and enjoy a autumn-ish appetizer (I am attempting pumpkin risotto balls).  We always have plans to venture into the bars but always are too full from the delish beers and tasty treats.  Let's see if we make it this year!

(2008 - The Shipyard is the best!)

(2009 - Sam Adams Cherry Wheat = Tasty)

Here's hoping your weekend is full of pumpkin treats and friends and family to keep you smiling!
