Headgear to help your Rearview

I like to pretend that I look as lovely and perfect as this lady above on the treadmill at Circuit Works whenever I workout.  However, last night when I wasn't paying attention and hopped on the treadmill I ended up looking more like this...

No joke, totally ate sh*t last night on the treadmill in front of (luckily) only 10 people.  Just because I wasn't paying attention.  Be careful people, the treadmill really will kick your a**!

Back to the point of this post...

Whenever I work out, I need my hair COMPLETELY off my face/neck.  These people at gyms who work out with their hair down I will never understand.  Maybe it's because I sweat a lot and end up looking a tomato, but every strand of my hair needs to be tightly tied, pined and whatever else so that it is not in my face.

I have baby fine hair that is slippery as all get out and requires a ton of hairspray to hold curl and a special headband to keep it locked in for my workouts.  And so I bring you to my favorite headband and a review of other headbands that actually work, and are guaranteed to keep you looking somewhat cute and put together.

Thank you Miss Kord for being a fabulous friend and picking up this Braided Headband from lululemon for me.  This sucker is TIGHT!  It holds my hair in without any fidgeting and is the real deal folks.  In fact you shouldn't purchase any other headbands until you buy this one.  It really is a workout changer my friends.

I picked up my own lululemon Slipless-Headband and like it ok.  It works pretty well and averages 1 or 2 pushes or secures during my workout.  It is a little wider than I prefer but leaves little to no indent in my hair so I am able to run around town without headband crimp.  It's alright as an alternative but I don't think I will purchase again.

The Lucy Power Double Strap Headband is my 2nd favorite after the lululemon braided goddess.  The one has little grippers that stick to your hair and it is available in a variety of colors and the double band helps keep my hair in tact.  I generally only have to adjust once during the workout with this guy and I could see purchasing a few more in different colors.

The first headband I bought for working out was the American Apparel Shiny Headband.  This one doesn't stay in that well at all, but it is by far the cutest of the bunch.  I use this one when I absolutely have no other headbands available and it requires the extra help of bobby pins to keep it in place.  A good option is to use this pretty headband to cover the indent of the braided headband after your workout!

Do you have any headbands that you think are the bees knees and stay put after a hard workout?  I would love to hear your suggestions!

I'm Loving It...(Shh...Don't Tell)

The Starbucks "Red Cup" is back!!!

I found myself in a funny situation today.  I was overjoyed by the return of the red cup, but then felt annoyed that it seems a little too soon...like perhaps November 15th would have been a better day to release the glorious red cup.

I will tell you that it is FAR TOO EARLY for the holiday music that greeted me today at Macy's while browsing the racks.  Unacceptable.  I love holiday music more than the average person and it is too soon.  Holiday music after Thanksgiving all for it.

Which makes me wonder...am I a hypocrite for loving and smiling at this beautiful red cup and cursing out loud at Macy's for playing holiday?  You be the judge.

Truth be told...I can't wait to get my new red cup tomorrow ;)

Happy {It's Already The} Weekend!

Oh me oh my!  What a busy, crazy week it has been.  I feel like I have been running around like a chicken with my head cut off and as happy as I am that it is the weekend again, there is still so much to do!  I am feeling a little unorganized and stressed this week and I need to get some things together and "set myself up for success" as I always say.

I apologize for my lack of blogging, commenting and being absent in general.  Here's hoping this weekend gets me back on track and returning to my regularly scheduled posts.

Sending hugs and happiness to all of you!

XOXO

Twenty Eleven

If 2009 was a year or rebounding and starting over, then 2010 was a year of rebuilding and letting go.  2010 had it's ups and downs and although the downs ALWAYS suck the life out of you, they also teach you how to lift your head back up and dust off your shoulders.

2010 brought me new friendships, a new career opportunity, and new love.  It also brought me financial woes, tested relationships and a whole lot of self revelation.

So while there are definitely some times I wish I hadn't experienced, I know that all those hard times taught me some sort of lesson and also have made me stronger, more confident and ready to tackle 2011.

I am starting 2011 with a clean slate and gearing up for a fantastic year.

Goals for 2011:

*Working on my fitness
*Dusting off my passport and hoping to head to Europe
*Career advancement
*Paying off those darn credit cards/student loans
*Organizing my bedroom
*Busting open the cookbooks
*More concerts
*Read more, watch less TV
*Write more

They may seem simple and ordinary but they are everything I want and need to feel complete (for now)....

Cheers to you and all of your goals!  Let's make 2011 the best yet!

Holiday Gift Ideas #9 ~ Do You Believe In Magic?

I have a confession....I HATE magic. Not a little bit, not jokingly, like really deep down hate it. I can't even begin to go into it because my hate for it is so strong, and I am trying to keep this light and lovely...That said, the only magic I will tolerate or own is this JCrew Crushed Glitter Magic Wallet.

(My personal favorite and on my wish list)

I have owned a JCrew Magic Wallet for a few years now and it truly is a fantastic little accessory. It fits into the tiniest of clutches, your back jean pocket or the biggest handbag you own.

(Flashy, Flashy)

The Magic Wallet holds your ID, Credit Cards and any business cards you may pick up in your evening out. It also "magically" keeps your cash in place by simply placing it inside and then opening it up.

(Goldie is just right)

These little guys will only cost you $16.50 and I am sure they will bring a smile to even the biggest hater of magic (i.e....me)!

It's Bacon!!

My name is Lyndsy, and I totally love bacon.

{via}

The smell, taste, everything! Let's be honest anything combined with bacon equals instantly delicious. With the recent bacon obsession, interesting combinations can be found everywhere. My co-worker recently sent me a link to chocolate covered bacon and I was instantly curious to sample this immediately.

In Shirlington Village, there is a darling little wine shop called The Curious Grape, where they host daily (free) wine tastings (we went Friday, Saturday & Sunday) and offer a variety of fantastic wine, cheeses and salami's, as well as....Chocolate Covered Bacon. We purchased a bar on Friday night, and the cashier informed us that the rest of the bars would be gone by Saturday night. Well sure enough, Saturday night, one bar remained out of the original 15!

I would love to tell you all that I LOVED every bite of the Vosges Mo's Bacon Bar, but sadly it just didn't do it for me. You could definitely taste the bacon, but something wasn't right. Maybe it was the quality of the chocolate, maybe the chunks of bacon weren't big enough...whatever it was just left me disappointed.

Which means...I am still on the quest for the best bacon dessert treat out there. Next on my list to try is Sir Francis Bacon Peanut Brittle from Dean & Deluca.

This combo might be more what I am looking for. I am thinking I may just order some to sample or bring to the next holiday party I attend. I am pretty sure I won't have to worry about someone bringing the same thing!

On a sweet treat non-bacon related side note:

I did sample from Dean & Deluca the most delectable treat I have EVER had in my life (yep I said it).

Although super pricey (I paid $3.00 for 2 pieces) the Sea Salt Caramel Collection is worth every penny. I seriously moaned in the store when I bit into the chocolate. If you are looking for a gift for that person who has a sweet tooth and enjoys salty treats, this little puppy is sure to bring you to the top of their favorite people list. Ah-Mazing!

So, am I alone in the desire for desserts containing bacon? Do you know of an amazing recipe or dessert I should be trying (or avoiding)? Let's hear it!

Um...Awesome!

I think I kind of need these Peter Ibruegger Mustache Mugs! I mean, just think about the joy it will bring to every long face in the office Monday morning...all for just enjoying your cup of mandatory coffee! I am especially loving the curly stache, makes me want to pinch the ends!

These mugs bring me to my next thought/question....moustaches seem to be popular again all of a sudden. I personally have always been a fan of moustaches (see pic below) and am excited by the abundance of moustaches I see on a daily basis (especially the Abbot Kinney Festival - whoa). So my question is, are you liking this moustache trend or are you wishing it would have stayed buried back in the Magnum PI days?

Even girls look sexy with staches!

Mrs. R and I found this guy rocking a mustache at a bar in Nashville and had to get a pic. Yep...that's how much I like mustaches!

Things That Make You Go Hmmmm...

No, I'm not talking about the rocking C&C Music Factory song, I am talking instead about the new handles that were installed on our work toilets.

Now, I am all for being green and reducing water usage (California = drought central right now), but my problem is that holding the handle up once for "liquid waste" never flushes it down entirely, so then I ended flushing again and once even a third time! So...is it really helping save water or is it just frustrating the hell out of me and causing me to waste more????

Secondly...notice the note that the handle is coated to protect against germs. Really? Last time I checked unless that handle miraculously sanitizes itself between flushes, I don't see how protects any better then the normal handle.

(Yep... I am that random and took a picture of a placard in a bathroom stall at work and thought about these things...on a side note: coworkers have already given up on the "liquid waste" flush and use the "solid waste" flush for everything)
