Summer Essential Series ~ Love, Lipstick, and Pearls

You are all in for a treat today, Miss K from Love, Lipstick, and Pearls shares her summer essentials.  Miss K is one of my oldest blog buddies who I just recently had the opportunity to meet (back in March) and just this past Sunday brunched and shopped with her as well as gorgeous Danielle from Sweet Nothings.  Miss K is a beauty junky, a recent newlywed and always is sharing the hottest of hot men in her "Hot Man Parade" feature.  She also shares great makeup reviews, recent sale purchases and just about anything else your heart might desire.  Full of fashion, not afraid to take a risk, Miss K is straight up fantastic and her summer essentials do not dissapoint!

*What one item can you not be without this summer?*

The one item I can't be without this summer is a great pair of cut off shorts. It took me forever to find a pair that weren't daisy dukes, but I've live in them all summer long.

Girl trips! I love my girlfriends and as we're getting older, we're not able to get away for weekends like we used to. This summer we have one trip and several nights out planned that I'm looking forward to.

*What is your essential summer song for 2011?*

 Duh, Britney Spears 'Til The World Ends'! I've been singing it all day everyday, can't get enough of the cd.

Forever Frugal Friday ~ Sail Away Style

1)Headband, 2) Denim Shorts, 3) Endowed Woven Top, 4) Glide Thong Sandals

This weekend I am heading into the open seas to celebrate two birthdays (and hopefully lots of sunshine), which inspired my picks above.  A headband to keep my hair in place, a cute white tank to allow a little sun on my shoulders, deconstructed denim shorts and sandals to keep me strapped in should all help make my little adventure in the sun a fabulous one!

Forever Frugal Friday

I have been on the hunt for the perfect pair of jean shorts for the spring and summer months ahead.  All I want is a pair of shorts that are not coochie cutters (sorry for being crass but honestly), a little on the baggy side, a darker denim color and a little destroyed.  Well I found a few options but they were all in $80-$200 range and I don't really foresee myself wearing them that often to drop some dough like that. 

What I do see myself doing is heading into Forever and trying on these Destroyed Denim Shorts and crossing my fingers that I can find stop searching for denim shorts.  I am really looking forward to wearing them with my sparkly TOMS, a baggy long tank, sunglasses and a fedora.  YAY Summer!

Forever Frugal Friday

Can I just mention how excited I am that Spring arrives tomorrow? I am loving that daylight savings is in effect, walking Waldo at night is even more enjoyable now! As I walk I take in all the sights and smells, including the little baby ducklings and the first smells of BBQ in the evening. It is all just so dreamy and perfect...kind of like this Blissful Woven Top from Forever.

It is just what I need to ease into spring. Although I would love to head right into tank tops and sundresses, once the sun goes down, the evening are a little on the chillier side.

I would love to add this top to my wardrobe and pair it with these cute 'Sammy' Roll Hem Stretch Denim shorts from Joe's Jeans.



And to add a little glitz but comfort at the same time, I would sport my fun Gold Glitter TOMS that I received this year as a birthday present (and you know that TOMS donates a pair of shoes to a child in need every time you purchase a pair).

The Gap's Born To Fit Party - 1969 Demin Launch & Giveaway!!

I was so excited to be selected by Brand About Town to help promote Gap's 1969 Premium Jeans launch. Last Sunday, ten of my closest girlfriends headed over to my apartment for jeans, wine and a good time.

The Gap to me is one of those classic stores that you can always find something to buy, whether it be a T-shirt, dress, swimsuit or kick ass tote. I have never been able to purchase Gap jeans however as I was blessed with the awesome combination of short legs (inseam 30" with heels) and a bubble butt. Jean shopping is a nightmare, to say the least (and I don't think I am alone here). So I excited to try these new 1969 jeans but a little hesitant to believe the would actually fit. We had three styles to choose from...

All of us ladies grabbed our size in one of the styles and are you ready for the best part...they truly did fit everyone. I was amazed, as were most of the girls. I opted for the sexy boot and was pleasantly surprised that I was able to go down a size (as were the other girls) for the perfect fit.

Mrs. F went right for the Always Skinny jeans...

And of course they looked darling and perfect on her (and paired with boots)!

Lindsay & Nancy opted for the Sexy Boot (fitted with just enough flare)...

While the newly married Mrs. C and I chose Real Straight (perfect to dress up with heels and a top for a night out with the girls)...

Mrs. L & Mrs. F were happy campers with their waters, jeans and totes to go.

While not all the girls cared to be captured on camera, every girl left with a pair of jeans that they loved (thank you Gap & Brand About Town)! The washes are fantastic and the fits are even better! Also, when was the last time you dropped under $70 for a well fitted and crafted fashionable pair of jeans (crickets anyone)?

I can honestly say that I was very pleased with the alterations that Gap has made with their denim and if you haven't already tried on a pair, you need to rush out immediately and do so. I am pretty positive that you will find a pair that you were born to wear :)

I just love me some summer time BBQ’s! I am off this weekend, with hubby in tow to Simi Valley for some BBQ, beers and friends. The perfect way to spend a Saturday if you ask me. I think the outfit above is the perfect attire for a BBQ at a decent price! Keep it causal and cool in these Leyna Cuffed Short Length Demin Shorts and Country Plaid Woven Shirt . Throw on these comfy Forever 21 Flip Flops and the Oversized Hoop Earrings and you my friends will be chillin’ (since your outfit was under $48), while everyone else is grillin’.
