Summer Essentials Series ~ Sweet Nothings

Oh how I adore the those girls over at Sweet Nothings.  Always sharing pretty pictures, fabulous wedding attire, and music that warms my heart (mostly because they love the "pop-y" teen music as much as I do).  This blog is one of my daily reads, and I am not kidding you when I say that I feel like I know these girls.  Whether it is our shared love for bacon, LA things or best friends at a distance, these girls are pretty damn fabulous!  They first shared their essentials with me last year, and I am honored they are contributing again!

Hello loves! Danielle of Sweet Nothings here, and I cannot believe it has been a year since Lyndsy first asked for Summer Essentials of 2009! Time flies, but I am always excited when sweet summertime is here again!

*What beauty product will be with you at all times this summer 2010?*

The beauty product that will be with me at all times is sunscreen.

Skin Cancer is not a joke! I would like to have my skin wrinkle and freckle free as long as possible, not to mention about 8 years ago I went to Mexico with my family and got the worst sunburn of my life. Like I could not even sleep. Since then, I keep spf 500 with me always.

*What are you craving for summer 2010?*

What I am craving for summer 2010 is to end it with lifelong memories.

I am eagerly awaiting long nights gossiping with girlfriends, days by the beach, and just tons of fun.

*What is your essential summer song for summer 2010?*

My essential summer song for 2010-and I am prepared for the backlash that will follow this post-is anything Miley Cyrus..esp Can't Be Tamed.

It is my guilty pleasure..please don't judge me! I kinda adore her..and try not to sing along when it comes on the radio :)

Thank you so much Danielle for participating!  I am not hating on your Miley Cyrus love!  I heart it as well!  And I couldn't agree with your more about sunblock, sunblock, sunblock.  My BFF Mrs. R and I call each other whenever we find what we think is the highest we've seen yet.  I think we stopped at 100+?  And summer memories with friends sounds amazing!  I especially looking forward to summer memories ahead, since this girl is moving back!!! Please stop over to Sweet Nothings for your daily fixin' of all things sweet!

Also, come back tomorrow to see La vie...Jaime summer needs and dreams!

Summer Essentials Series ~ Happenstance

Today's wonderful summer selections come from the darling Haydee over at Happenstance.  I came across this blog about eight months ago and Happenstance has become one of my daily blog reads ever since then.  She always has gorgeous pictures that take me away from it all, as well as fashionable pieces I would love to own, and have I mentioned she roots for the Lakers?  Love it!  Haydee always keeps her posts short and sweet and I often find myself sighing at the pictures she posts.  Be sure to head over there and check it out, but first see what she can't be without this summer...

*What beauty product will be with you at all times this summer 2010?*

Bumble and Bumble Surf Spray. Even after showering and getting cleaned off from the beach it's still fun to keep your hair "beachy."

*What are you craving for summer 2010?*

I don't crave it all the time but for some reason a craving for coke with ice seems to sneak up on me when I'm at the beach. Especially if it's from a bottle.

*What is your essential summer song for summer 2010?*

Most likely the Pixies (Surfer Rosa is pretty apropos for summer) since they're coming to San Diego this September!

Thank you so much Haydee for your awesome pics!  I have never hear this Pixie song, but love the name and have only heard fantastic things about Bumble and Bumble's Surf Spray.  Be sure to head over and check and get your daily dose of pretty goodness!  Also, check back tomorrow when the girls of Sweet Nothings share all their fabulous must haves!

Song Of The Week: First Kiss (Feat. Ke$ha)

A few weeks back I went out with my girl Mrs. F and some other lovely ladies to My Studio in Hollywood for a night of dancing, and having tons of fun.  I am not generally the "Hollywood" scene kind of girl, but had a rocking good time.  I was introduced that evening to my current fave song My First Kiss (Feat. Ke$ha)by 3OH!3.

I seriously cannot stop listening to this song.  It puts me in the best of moods, whether I am getting ready for a girls night out or reintroducing myself to the treadmill.  This song has some serious energy behind it.  Plus I may be the only one out there to admit it, but I adore Ke$ha!  And when I say adore, I mean in a "she's crazy as sh*t, but has the best songs to dance to" way.

Did your first kiss go a little like this?  And twist, and twist?

Quote of the night as we were crossing Hollywood Blvd, "What's your dream?" Name the movie?

Summer Essentials Series ~ Love, Lipstick, and Pearls

Happy Friday!  So excited for the weekend ahead, which brings me that much closer to July, which brings me that much closer to the end of "June Gloom".

Ending this weeks "Summer Essentials" is Kristen from Love, Lipstick and Pearls . I heart this blog.  Kristen is always up to speed with the latest beauty products as well as celebrity style, how to hair styles and general LA goodness.  As an added treat, she always gives us all a little eye candy with her "Hot Man Parade" posts.  They always make me smile a little bit wider!

*What beauty product will be with you at all times this summer 2010?*

One of the best things about summer is that you don't need to wear as much make-up! Just some mascara and some lipgloss. My favorites are Maybelline Volum' Express Colossal - Glam Black

and MAC To the Beach Lipgloss in Flurry of Fun.

*What are you craving for summer 2010?*

I’m craving fruit, Popsicles, and cherry Slurpees.

*What is your essential summer song for summer 2010?*

My summer song is California Gurls (feat. Snoop Dogg) by Katy Perry.

Thanks Kristen for sharing your top goods.  I also am craving an "adult" slurpee for those hot summer days by the pool.  And Katy Perry is just, hot, hot, hot and can do no wrong in my eyes.  Be sure to stop over at Love, Lipstick, and Pearls for your daily dose of all things beauty, fun and hot men!

Cheers to the last weekend of June (how on earth did this month fly by so fast), I will be spending tonight with some friends celebrating B's actual birthday, and then kind of winging it for the rest of the weekend.  GO USA!

Happy Birthday B!

Forever Frugal Friday

You know when you look through your closet and you feel like you are missing something?  Like that one piece that will make everything right?  I am feeling this way often lately, and when I saw this Striped Cardigan Vest I realized that I am definitely missing a vest for my summer attire.  I love the loose causal fit, and while I love it with jeans, I think it would also be darling with shorts.  Totally fun, hip and cute, perfect for the summer days ahead.

Woo-hoo!  I dodged being selected for jury duty yesterday!  Thank you everyone for the sympathetic comments and encouragement for The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo.  I am super excited to dig into this weekend (hopefully poolside).

Today's essentials are courtesy of Andi from Saltwater Dreams.  I love reading Andi's blog for makeup tips, product reviews and her awesome taste in clothing.  Andi is always sharing and reviewing one of her purchases and often times it is exactly what I am craving to buy and I find her tips and reviews extremely helpful.  Be sure to check out Andi's blog and her "Summer Essentials" below...

Pineapple martini shave ice!

*What is your essential summer song for summer 2010?*

Tarrus Riles's reggae version of Human Nature- don't know why, but it puts me a groovy mood.

Summer Essentials Series 2010

Happy Summer Solstice!  Last year I started the Summer Essentials Series and had some great fellow bloggers join in on the fun of all thing summer.  It was such a success and received so many positive comments I thought, why not do it again?  So here goes!

*What beauty product will be with you at all times this summer 2010?*
Since we have already established that I am pale, pale, pale and therefore require lots of sunblock, it goes without saying that I always have sunblock close to me.  However, without fail a time will arrive this summer (or yesterday) when I do not reapply often enough and end up with a sunburn.  My favorite product for providing immediate relief that isn't sticky or smelly is Clinque's After Sun Rescue Balm with Aloe.  It is ahhh-mazing!

*What are you craving for summer 2010?*

A Beach Cruiser for day drinking and enjoying the sun.  Last year we rented bikes for 4th of July and trolled all over Venice and it was soo much fun!  Although, be careful...drinking and biking can be quite dangerous, right Avery?

*What is your essential summer song for summer 2010?*

Easy...Blister In The Sun! This song has me beating my hands against the steering wheel when I drive and just instantly puts me in the best mood.  Plus the word "sun" is in the title so it is automatically summer related!

Be sure to check back all this week as some of my favorite/daily read bloggers share their summer essentials!

Song Of The Week: Armada Latina

Happy first day of summer to everyone! Even though "June Gloom" is in full effect here in LA (and apparently rainy and cold in Seattle), summertime is my favorite for food, friends and music. With lots of laying out by the pool, BBQ's and possible road trips, good music to keep you smiling is the most important (besides the company).

I first heard Armada Latina (Feat. Pitbull And Marc Anthony) [Explicit] a few months ago and was shocked to discover these smooth beats were courtesy of none other than Insane In The Brain (Explicit Album Version) fame Cypress Hill.  Listening to this song back in March/April had me fast forwarding to summer in my mind.

This song is sexy and hot, and makes me want to fly down to Miami and do a little salsa dancing.  It makes me think of hot summer nights, staying out super late and having the best time with friends and loved ones.  Who knew that adding Cypress Hill, Marc Anthony, Pitbull and Suite: Judy Blue Eyes [Remastered LP Version] by Crosby, Stills & Nash would equal such glorious summer goodness?

If summer could be summed up into a 2010 song, this song has my vote!

Happy {Sailing} Weekend

The weekend ahead is sure to be a blast!

A birthday party in Hermosa which is sure to get rowdy...

Sailing on Sunday to begin celebrating B's birthday....

Enjoying Brookie's visit with some other fabulous girls...

Hope you last weekend of Spring is full of joy and lots of fun in the sun!

XOXO

Forever Frugal Friday ~ Sail Away Style

This weekend I am heading into the open seas to celebrate two birthdays (and hopefully lots of sunshine), which inspired my picks above.  A headband to keep my hair in place, a cute white tank to allow a little sun on my shoulders, deconstructed denim shorts and sandals to keep me strapped in should all help make my little adventure in the sun a fabulous one!

Desperately Seeking Sully ~ That's A Wrap.....

.....Watch! I am majorly go-go-ga-ga head over heels in love with these La Mer watches.  These gorgeous, edgy and sexy watches are just what this girl needs to keep me on time.  Some of my faves are below...

Perfect for hot summer nights, White Patent is all right with me.

For girls night out, this Black Multichain is alright with me.

Rooting for the Lakers has never been easier or more timely with this Gold Glam Chain.

Tell me about it (Pyramid) STUD !

Perhaps the most simple and elegant, this Sparkle Wrap will go with just about anything and anyone!

And because I am partial to anything with the name Venice, this washed gray wrap will do just fine!

And that my friends, is a wrap!
