Red Carpet (Rain) Roundup ~ 2010 Golden Globes

The 2010 Golden Globes were this past Sunday and I have to be honest, I wasn't that impressed with much of the fashion. Below are the good, the bad and the really bad and ugly.

I was so happy to see Christina Aguilera looking so marvelous at the awards. Usually she is wearing too much makeup, or her hair is too blonde, or something just isn't right. Well on Sunday she got it all right! Her makeup was soft and the dress complimented her incredible post baby bod! The big winner Toni Collete dazzled in Elie Saab and has me seriously wanting to check out The United State of Tara as she beat out some pretty incredible fellow actresses. Lastly, that Heidi Klum is just so stunning, and her smile and love for her hubby Seal just radiates in her skin. I loved this dress as it was unique and the color was so pretty.

Stunning in Strapless:

Jason Merritt/Harrison/Merritt

All of these women looked smashing in their strapless gowns. Vera Farmiga's eyes looked so blue in contrast to her black mermaid gown. Her earrings were equally impressive as well. I adore that Christina Henrdricks so much as Joan on Mad Men, and although the color wasn't my favorite, I thought she looked "fierce" in her Christian Siriano gown. Her makeup and hair were perfection and she reminded me of an old school glamour star. I don't generally follow Glenn Close, but on Sunday she was striking and classic in her Oscar de la Renta sparkly gown. Totally age appropriate and it fit perfectly.

Didn't They Almost Have it All:

These ladies had almost everything working in their corner. Emily Blunt looked radiant next to her fifi John (who wouldn't really though) and her D&G dress was gorgeous, but her hair (yes I know it was raining) left much to be desired. Sandra Bullock was refreshing in bright violet and all smiles with her nomination (and win!) but her hair needed some help as well and the dress just wasn't 100%. I liked it but wanted a little less sheer and a little more fitted. Sweet Drew looked quite the lady (and winner) in her Atelier Versace dress but I wanted to rip that hip puff off and add just a little more color to the dress and it would have been just perfection.

Missed the Mark:

I sadly had more selections of disappointments than good dresses this award show. However, I whittled down to these three looks. Lauren Graham had a good idea with the bold pink that flattered her dark hair, but the dress looked like a bad reject prom dress and I have to say I was a little shocked to find out it was Monique Lhuillier. I really like the premise and story behind Jennifer Morrison's dress (her boyfriend gave it to her for Christmas), but I just did not love this one. The color washed her out and the tiers made her look hippy and big. As for the usually impeccable Diane Krueger, I want to appreciate her taking a chance on a "different" style of dress but this was not a winning gamble. Her makeup and hair was equally gross and all I kept thinking was a horrible, horrible bridesmaid dress.

I wasn't blown away by the fashion at the Golden Globes but I am super excited for all the upcoming awards and am crossing my fingers that I will once again be "ooohed" and "ahhed" by the fashions to come. Who was your favorite? Whose dress did you hate? What award show are you most looking forward to?
