Beauty Sleep
Beauty sleep is what happens at night when your muscles and digestive system rest and your blood cells do a better job of supplying nutrients to skin cells. It is the cheapest beauty treatment you can very well give yourself. No beauty cream, no facials, no amount of makeup can give you the glow, fresh and relaxed look that a sound sleep provides. Without the sleep you’ll look older and your skin will look drier. Your skin renews itself as you sleep which is why too little sleep can make your skin look tired and dull. Sleep renews and refreshes us and is vital for good health and beauty.
As we know that a lack of sleep leaves us irritable; however most of us are unaware of the damage it may be doing to our skin. Sleep experts say that we need 8 hours of sleep per night. Sufficient rest and sleep effectively reduces our stress hormone and we look with naturally fresh and glowing skin. It is also believed that as a person sleeps, the brain performs vital house-keeping tasks such as organizing long-term memory, integrating new information, and repairing and renewing tissue, nerve cells, and bio-chemicals.
Here’s what to do for sleep more peacefully and longer.
- Eliminate noise from your bedroom. Bedroom sounds should be low and consistent. Try earplugs.
- Add a tablespoon of honey to a glass of warm milk and drink it before bedtime.
- Take a walk before retiring…a 15 - 20 minute slow walk is best.
- Keep the room at a comfortable temperature.
- Try natural-fill pillows such as down or feather because they have the most adjustability.
- Watch your coffee intake. Caffeine from coffee, tea, cola and chocolate can affect you for up to twelve hours.
- Close your eyes and breathe in very deeply, concentrate on the days pleasant happening
