Song Of The Week: That's All

phil collins & genesis - that's all
Uploaded by kareem93. - News videos from around the world.

A few weeks back I was listening to a new mashup CD and they sampled this Phil Collin's song that I had forgotten I enjoyed so much.  "That's All" reminds me of my mom and cleaning the house on Saturday mornings.  I remember I probably argued and complained that this music was so crappy and dumb, and yet some twenty years later, here I am loving the song and listening to it on repeat.

I had forgotten how talented Mr. Phil Collins is.  Listening to this song, had me creating a Pandora station centered around him, and yes it is fabulously 80's but I just love it!

In the words of Genesis and Miranda Priestly - "That's all".

Happy Weekend

I am so thankful for the weekend ahead!  It has been a long week and I am looking forward to HH with the bestie tonight, and who knows for the rest of the weekend.  Hope you all get to strap on your favorite sandals, grab your beach bag and document your weekend with pictures of friends and loved ones.

XOXO

Forever Frugal Friday

I haven't really seen many items at Forever that I am dying to own, but I think I would very much enjoy owning this Lacy Ruffle Dress.  It is just a little more fancy then a cotton sundress, but still casual enough that you wouldn't be overdressed at a concert at the park or pier.  I especially like this dress because it has a little 70's flair to it.  Plus I am a total sucker for ruffles.

Desperately Seeking Sully ~ Glitter in the Air

The sun in LA has been a little shy this summer, and by a little I actually mean A LOT shy.  I have been craving nothing more than some warm sun on my shoulders and sparkly waters to gaze out at from my window at work.  Since these things don't seem to be happening anytime soon, I am forced to enjoy sparkle and shine from anything and everything covered in glitter!

I am pretty sure that this Anya Hindmarch Valorie Glitter Clutch would give me all the sparkle and shine I need to get out of my funk.  I am thinking this little baby would look soooo cute with just jeans, a deep V-Neck and some very high stilettos.

Anya again nails it with this Marano Glitter Clutch.  I pretty much need it, now....stat.

This Deborah Lippman Collection, ‘ All That Jazz’ Color Trio Polish is a little more up my alley price wise and allows quite the range of glittery goodness at your fingertips.

It's as if Rescue Beauty Lounge entered into my brain and extracted my motto to name this gold sparkly goddess of a polish,  "Look Rich Be Cheap".  I have been seeing more and more gold nails lately and I am really loving the look.  I even complimented a gal at Drybar on Saturday on her gold glittery toes.  I think it is about time I commit and just buy a bottle.

Now personally, I don't think I could ever seriously sport these Steve Madden heels but I could definitely see Miss Snooki partying on the Jersey Shore in them.  Only to head back home and throw on those fugly slippers of hers.

I myself would like to paint my toes gold and slip them on into this glamorous Kate Spade Charm Glitter Bow Slingbacks.  I mean they are heels, with glitter, a bow and pink accents.  Could they be any more perfect?  I think not.

My thoughts of glitter also traveled into my musical selections.  Pink's Funhouse album is one that I can listen to from start to finish and then again right after on my IPod.  The album is full of "Go Girl" anthems and then some sweet ballads.  Perhaps my favorite on the album (although I still really love So What (Explicit)) would have to be Glitter In The Air.  Her voice is incredible in it, the words beautiful and the piano gets me every time.  Be sure to download her entire album or at least this song.  It is truly gorgeous.

I think we should all take a moment and throw some glitter in the air like we did as kids and celebrate that it is almost the weekend!

(can't remember where I found this one)

Drybar Review

This past Saturday we celebrated my good friend Mr. Cohn's MBA graduation at the Viceroy in Santa Monica.  The party was fabulous and full of good drink and eats (truffle fries - TDF).  I figured this event was the perfect time to use my Groupon to Drybar in Brentwood.  So off we went (my girls Avery and Spry joined in on the fun) to get our hair did.

(all images via me)

My first impression upon walking in, was that this place was darling.  My fave color happens to be yellow and this place is just dripping with fun yellow accents.  The entry way is cozy and cute, with a fun and appropriate chandelier to greet you.  A line of chairs is immediately in front and you pick from a menu the look you are going for.

Here are all of our before shots.  My hair up in a bun was straight from batting cage practice in Sherman Oaks and a little unruly once we took it down.  Avery (upper right) also opted for a bun, while Spry (bottom left) went for a mini faux hawk.  All three of us opted to get the "Southern Comfort".  I do love me some big hair and curls.

We were whisked away to the wash bowls (next time I will opt for the 10 minute scalp massage) and then placed in a chair with a glass of champagne and Sex and the City right in front of me.  Not too shabby!  It was really quite enjoyable and such a great way to get ready for a Saturday night out.

THE RESULTS:

Overall I loved the experience.  It was relaxing fun and all of the girls that work there are so nice and so fun.  They really made you feel welcomed and pampered which was the best part.  I liked the overall finish of my hair but was pretty sure it was something I could do myself (and usually do).

I think our "Southern Comforts" all turned out well, and Spry enjoyed hers so much she got a membership.  If you are looking for a place to get pampered and not drop a lot of dough, I would highly recommend making an appointment at Drybar.  I think I will be returning again for my next big event when I want to get a little bit spoiled.

(Funny story about the picture above - after the Viceroy we jumped over to Rick's Tavern on Main Street (much more casual) and were asked by many a ladies why were were A) all dressed up and B) in complimentary shades.  After numerous shoulder shrugs (it was just a coincidence) Spry began telling everyone that we were bridesmaids in a wedding that was "Berry & Citrus" themed and that Spry was the MOH and "killed her speech".  We got quite a laugh from it, and made some nice friends in the process.)

Red Carpet Rundown ~ Teen Choice Awards 2010

While I didn't tune in for the entire show (just for the Jason Derulo and Justin Bieber performances), I did check out the red carpet, and to be quite honest I was pretty bored with all the fashion.  There weren't really any standout looks (perhaps because of the casual-ness of the event and the age its geared towards) but below are some of my fave and least fave looks.

all photos{via}

I though Jenna Dewan looked gorgeous in this off the shoulder black dress and black heels.  The pearls are a great accent piece and she looks fun and sassy without looking slutty or overly trendy.

Although I am not a fan of Megan Fox I will say that I thought she looked really cute last night.  I loved the skirt and heels and thought the top brought a little youth to what could have been a super sexy, slinky number.

I hope that I am not the only one tuned into ABC Family's Pretty Little Liars.  I have been hooked since episode one and the girls showed up at the Teen Choice Awards looking like bonafide stars.  While I loved all four of their looks my favorite look for the whole red carpet was Lucy Hale.

Her makeup, her hair, that dress!  Just perfection.  I am thinking she could be the next Rachel Bilson...

Some of my not so favorite looks:

Lea Michelle is completely gorgeous but I feel as though those shoes are just too heavy and clunky and her pose here is just throwing me all off.  I will say that her makeup for the evening was pretty glamorous and gorgeous!  Lea is usually always on and one of my favorites for any red carpet, this time I was just left feeling - ehhh.

The darling and fresh faced Emma Roberts looked as if she had just walked off the set of Twilight.  The makeup, dark hair and pale skin was just too much.  She looks like she hasn't slept in weeks and is thaleeepy.

What the Teen Choice Awards did get me excited for is the August 29th Emmy Awards.  More beautiful fashion, just around the corner - Yay!

Song Of The Week: Your Love

Back in college, I used to love me some Lil Kim.  Her raunchy raps were always blaring at the sorority and her videos were equally scandalicous.  However, Lil Kim grew up and we were missing a powerful, talented female rapper for a little while.  Enter Nicki Minaj.  I heart her.

I first heard of Nicki Minaj watching Timbaland's sons Sweet Sixteen party on MTV.  This girl Nicki Minaj was all the rage and she escorted him to his party.  No idea who this gal was until "BedRock [Explicit]" came out and the female solo was completely inappropriate and completely awesome.

Nicki Minaj's solo album is set to drop in November I believe but you are able to download her latest and greatest single "Your Love" right now and you will not regret doing so.  She samples Annie Lennox's "No More "I Love You's"" in the background and sings/raps some excellent catchy lyrics.

I think we may just have a winner in Miss Nicki Minaj!  What do you think - next Lil Kim or just an impostor?
