Song Of The Week: Alejandro

Leave it to Lady Gaga to push the limits again with her new music video Alejandro.  I have been listening to this song since the end of March and am still loving it.  To me it's a mix of two other fabulous songs, All That She Wants by Ace of Base and Fernando by Abba.

When I first listened to it, I wasn't quite sure how I felt about it, but as soon as the chorus kicked in, "Alejandro.  Alejandro.  Ale-ale-jandro.  Ale-ale-jandro" I was sold.  That easily!

The video is of course controversial and it reminds me a little of Madonna's Express Yourself (Album Version) with the dancers and it has just a hint of Vogue with the cone bra, short blond hair, and black sexy power suit getup.

Judge for yourself, but I have to say that Miss. Gaga has pleased me yet again with her latest tune.

Happy {Cha-Cha-Changes} Weekend

This picture pretty much sums up how this past week has been for me!  The good news is that I was recently promoted and have moved from purchasing into marketing (yay)! I was at my last position for almost five years and truly loved all my coworkers like family.  So this past week I trained for Office 2007 (pretty awesome), my new position and closed out all projects from my previous position.  Some overtime and five days later, I am in my new desk and ready for the change.  However in my craziness I neglected this blog and events that occurred.  Below is a quick wrap up of news to share!

Beautiful Baby Girl Charlotte arrived.  A big congrats to Courtney &  Nick!

Erin, Mrs. R, Me, Lori

Celebrated Lori's 30th Birthday!

Saw Get Him to the Greek and laughed my ass off and now have a huge crush on Russell Brand

And for the weekend ahead I plan to...

Enjoy a big glass of wine tonight and celebrate the week being over and making it out alive.

Watch the Lakers hopefully beat the Celtics.

Have a drink with Mr. R and possibly drunk dial Mrs. R.

Hope you all have a lovely weekend!

 Go Lakers!

Forever Frugal Friday ~ World Cup Edition

The World Cup has officially begun this morning!  Cheers to watching games at crazy hours and getting your morning drink on really early!

The first match I will be most likely watching is England vs. USA tomorrow at 11:30 AM (PST) here.

As for the proper attire during "June Gloom" and a sporting event, I am thinking this USA Athletic Top will work just dandy.

And even though I am totally biased towards the US, I won't leave out an option for you England fans, this darling Great Britain Love Tank is girlie and fun in every way.

Regardless of what team you are rooting for, I have to say that I am loving all the enthusiasm and "World Cup Fever" that I am surrounded by.  Be sure to check out a game wherever you live and experience the world's most popular sport!

Girl Crush - Kristen Bell

Do you ever see a celebrity in a movie or being interviewed and think, "if she wasn't famous, we would totally be friends"?  Whenever there is a darling girl celeb, my girlfriends and I are always saying that. Kristen Bell is one of those girls for me.  She seems super down to earth, is always smiling, and just sort of lives a normal life (with some great perks, like invites to fashion week).  Plus she is the mysterious narrorating voice for Gossip Girl, so she is also up on all the scoop (or at least I like to think so).

I love her hair, cute little body and simple style.  She almost always dresses right for her body, and I am in major like with her hair and I believe I will be taking a few of the pictures below to my hair stylist Mrs. F for some inspiration.

all pictures from Zimbio

Fun and totes appropriate for the American Music Awards.

I love that she always is smiling :)

Love her hair, love the red!

Loved her dress at the Metropolitan Museum of Art Costume Institute Gala this year.

While I am not crazy about the side fabric, she almost earned a perfect 10 in my book with this gorgeous dress.

Totally cute girl next door.

Her makeup is clean, fresh and lovely.  I want to replicate this look immediately.

I fell in love with this look two years ago and still want to replicate everything.  So cute!

I absolutely love her hair here and am crossing my fingers that I can make this work for me!  Bangs? Yes please!

My favorite flick with Kristen has to be Forgetting Sarah Marshall, but I am also looking forward to her chick flick You Again out this fall (preview below).

Spill it...which celebrity do you think you would be friends with if they weren't famous?

Song Of The Week: Sometime Around Midnight (Acoustic Version)

So I am basically a summer late in sharing one of my absolute favorite songs, Sometime Around Midnight (Acoustic Version - Bonus Track) by The Airborne Toxic Event.  Last summer I listened to this song on repeat when walking the dog, driving to work, whatever.  At a summer gathering, a gentleman and I were chatting about music we loved and he also shared he was obsessed with this song.

The song tells a story about a man running into his ex-girlfriend and how all the memories come flashing back, and he desires to rekindle this past even though she has moved on, depressing much?  Yes.  But the song is raw and vulnerable, and that is what makes it so beautiful.  The song starts slow and almost in a whisper and then just erupts into full blown emotion.

The lead singers voice is beautiful and the violin's get me every time.  I haven't listened to it in a while and when I shuffled through to most played songs, I knew I just had to share this beauty regardless of how sad and angry it is.

Forever Frugal Friday

I am a total sucker for comfy cozy gray tees.  This Flounce Ruffle Top reminds me of this other top that I saw some time back (I think from Anthro), that I thought would look so cute for summer paired with white skinny jeans and some flat cute sandals.  Throw in a denim jacket for when the sun goes down and voila, perfect summer outfit!

Desperately Seeking Sully ~ Luxurious Lucite

Yes I know, usually the words luxury and Lucite do not go together.  Instead I tend to associate Lucite with clear high heels that only strippers can navigate around in.  That was until I eyed these gorgeous pieces below, that have me humming a whole new tune about Lucite.

First up is this gorgeous Michael Kors Large Face Chronograph Watch.  I am not really a watch person, but I may just have to become one with this beauty as she would practically go with anything!

Just in time for summer are some fierce Lucite Aviators from Dsquared2.  Perfect for the sunny days ahead in LA (I am ignoring the "June Gloom" outside my window).

Perhaps you need a little Lucite in your home to brighten up your living room?  This Payton Ribbed Glass Lamp by Ralph Lauren will do the trick just fine.

And just in case my Michael Kors watch isn't matching my perfect outfit for the night, one (or all three) of these Alexis Bittar Studded Hinge Cuffs will more than suffice.

What do you think of Lucite?  Strictly for Strippers or Luxurious Ladies too?
