Idea for wearing a poodle skirt

f you are planning to get a 1950s look, a poodle skirt can easily help you to achieve this. Here are few ideas for wearing this dress to look good.
1. Try a ruffled petticoat or slip under your skirt and s slip along with a drawstring waist. Try to use about 2 tiers of ruffles to get the best effect.
2. Wear a blouse which is short-sleeved to complement the skirt. For dark color skirts, you can wear a white or light-colored blouse to look good.
3. Wear a scarf around the neck and make the end of the scarf to hang down. The scarf color must match the color of your poodle skirt.
4. Finally try a pair of white and canvas lace-up shoes along with a pair of white bobby socks.

Forever Frugal Friday

I have been reading (and seeing) how popular chambray is this season and until I saw this skirt I was just sort of meh on the trend.  However, with 84 degree weather expected for tomorrow and a possible pub crawl through Venice, I thinking chambray is just perfect for the upcoming summer months.

What are your thoughts - yay or nay to chambray?

Forever Frugal Friday

My sweet sister sent me over a gift card to Forever 21 that I can't wait to use.  Below are two items that I will be on the hunt for specifically and I am also looking forward to checking out the Rory Beca Collection.

I love this California Burnout Top and think it would look so cute with my Legging Jeans from the Gap and some flat boots.  I like that it isn't fitted but still has some style to it, and it helps me declare my love of California!

I am still on a quest to update my work wardrobe and I think this Tiered Scallop Edge Skirt would be the perfect addition.  I think this skirt could also be a great piece in coral for Easter!

I am hoping to come back with some great finds this weekend and I will be sure to share the goods!

I straight up love this outfit.  I am thinking it is a perfect option for drinks out for my upcoming birthday.  Love this Colorful Bars Skirt, love the oxford white shirt, love the booties.

Forever Frugal Friday

Lately getting ready for work has been a chore.  I haven't purchased any new work clothes in a long while and it shows in my closet and attitude at work.  Seeing as I spend 40 hours a week at work I try to take pride in my outfits, which has not been happening lately.  What I need to do is add a few essential pieces into the mix.

Starting with this Striped Bow Front Skirt.  Perfect with a black cardigan and black heels.  As much as I would love to wear it with those socks and shoes, that just wouldn't fly in my office.

What office clothing staple can you not live without?

Forever Frual Friday ~ Black Swan

I saw Black Swan the other night and let me just say that it is quite a movie.  At times it was beautiful, other times funny, and some times unwatchable.  Natalie Portman is outstanding in this movie and absolutely breathtaking at times and frightening at others.  I would highly recommend seeing this movie as it will keep you thinking way after the movie has ended.  The music was spectacular, the dancing lovely, and the costumes were beautiful.  It made me want to run out and purchase a tutu!

So I decided to dedicate this weeks frugal find to Natalie Portman's very different characters of the Black Swan and the White Swan.

You choose....

Are you dark and cunning like the Black Swan or light and innocent like the White Swan?

Also have you seen the movie yet?  Are you planning to see it?  What did you think?!

Gift Guide #2 ~ Give the Gift of Gap & A Giveaway!

Having a hard time finding a present for your brother, niece, co-worker, girlfriend, or self?  I'm pretty sure if you head over to the Gap you will find something for all of the above.  They always have a great selection, affordable prices and incredible savings.  Below are some items I have on my Gap wish list...

Yes I am obsessed with sparkles.  This skirt is totally affordable for under $50 and I can't imagine any girl who wouldn't love to shine in this baby come NYE.

Perfect for that secret Santa gift, this Glitter Wallet will keep your favorite ladies receipts and cards organized but she will look oh so stylish doing so.

Since I was a wee little gal I have been obsessed with pink, and add a little sparkle and you pretty much can't go wrong in my eyes.  Perfect for your mom or sister, this Sequin Wrap Cardi adds a little glamour to whatever she may choose to wear.  In person it is oh so cozy and oh so pretty.

Currently on hold at the Gap in the Grove, these Black Wash Stirrup Legging Jeans are the perfect pant for the holidays as well as boots.  Best part for me is that they are available in three different lengths since no two gals are made the same.  The look of a jean with the feel of leggings, what a wonderful holiday treat.

If you know of a gal with poor circulation in her feet like me, these Faux Fur Slipper Booties are just what the doctor ordered.  I am seriously contemplating buying these for myself as my feet are always SO cold at my parents house during the holidays.  Plus I love the little pom-poms on the side.  Cute and fun and perfect for snuggling by a fire.

'Tis the season to give back and by purchasing this FEED USA Canvas Tote  you aren't only being green, but you are also donating $5 towards food education in schools and America.  Perfect for the gal who always loves to give.

Last but not least, a wicked IKAT Scarf is sure to please just about any lady in your life - perhaps even a design friend who you are just stumped about what to buy.  The colors and finish on this scarf are quality and will go with just about anything.

And guess what my lovely readers....the peeps over at Brand About Town  and the Gap have graciously donated a pair of jeans to one lucky YBB reader.

  • All you have to do is pop over to the Gap, pick out the two items you are wishing for this holiday season.
  • Leave a comment here at YBB sharing your wish lish items.  (Be sure to leave an email address that you can be contacted at should you win)
  • I will select a random winner on Monday, December 20th at 4:00 PM PST.
  • This giveaway is open to US Residents only.
Happy Wish List Shopping and Good Luck!

Forever Frugal Friday ~ Cocktail Party Chic

(click picture to enlarge)

Next Saturday I am attending a cocktail party at my bosses house and then heading to the bars to celebrate my friend taking his LSAT.  Two very different crowds and two very different occasions.  However, I think the outfit above will allow me to transition from each party effortlessly.

I realize the necklace is a little matchy to the skirt but, I don't really mind.  And the leather jacket will help keep me warm but also add a little fun.  I am also considering bringing a backup White V-Neck to change into for the bars (also in case I spill on myself at the party).

A little bit of dazzle and sparkle is just what the holidays need and this skirt is sure to get the job done.

Forever Frugal Friday

I have been eyeing this skirt at Forever for about two months now.  Contemplating whether I really need it or really like it that much.  Well, at the engagement party I attended on Sunday, a guest was wearing this skirt and I realized that I do REALLY want it and need it.  I am thinking it would be cute with a button down and blazer at work and then a tank, cardi and boots for dinner with the girls.  In any case, this Striped Skirt w/ Belt is ridiculously cute and looks like you got it from Anthropologie not Forever 21.  Done and done.

Forever Frugal Friday

I am attending a bridal shower in Manhattan Beach this July and wanted a cute outfit that was nautical but fit my personality and budget at the same time. This entire outfit cost only $36 and is something I would totally feel cute sporting. I also think it could work for a BBQ, or baby shower. Added bonus, each of the pieces can be paired with other items you already have in your closet for a completely different look.

Cheers to summer finally arriving next Sunday!

Forever Frugal Friday: Office to Drinks with the Girls

Here's an outfit for your that cost only $35.40 (plus some heels and a blazer that you already own), that takes you straight from the office to the bar, for drinks with the ladies.

The Jolene Tulip Skirt is a simple black skirt with a little more pizazz to it and sure to flatter all body types. Pair it with the simple Ribbed Macramé Trim Tank and Painted Beads Necklace and you have an outfit that you won't disappoint. Plus all three pieces can be mixed and matched with items you already have hanging in your closet. In hard economic times like these, making whats old, new again is key and simple to do with the right pieces.

Cheers!
